ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT


DAVID B. BEHEN (BS92, MPA96) serves dual roles for the state of Michigan as director of the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) and Chief Information Offi cer. A champion of strategic planning, he’s a driving force behind expanding mobility services and strengthening cybersecurity for the state. David’s vision for a citizen-centric government and providing Michigan citizens and businesses 24/7 service have been hallmarks of his leadership. In 2014, “ComputerWorld” recognized David as one of its 100 Premier IT Leaders and “Government Technology” magazine has named him to its top 25 list of IT Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers.

MARY KATHLEEN (KATHY) WALSH (BS05, MA07) spent many years as a classroom teacher. Now she’s using her 20 plus years of educational experience to teach those who are teaching. Her LLC, Extreme Teaching for Extreme Times, provides research-based professional development focused on ensuring children will meet and exceed profi ciencies on state standards and assessments. She is the incoming president of the Michigan Association of Teacher Educators and helps raise thousands of dollars each year for Relentless, an organization dedicated to raising funds for families with children with terminal illnesses.
