THE LAST FRONTIER at National President Francisca Guilford’s Homecoming M
embers trekked from far and wide to Anchorage, Alaska, where they enjoyed the incredible beauties of the state. T e
ocean and the mountains, the wildlife and the history, Alaska had much to off er those who traveled all that way. President Guilford and the members of Alaska
welcomed both VFW and Auxiliary members to what will be the last offi cial Homecoming event for the VFW Auxiliary. T e National Council of Administration voted to move the fall Council Meeting to the end of the National Convention, starting in 2016. T e Last Frontier state was a fi tting end to a longtime tradition. T e National Council voted on many measures,
including the 2015-2016 National Budget. T e Department Presidents from Georgia, Alabama and New York were voted in as pro tem representatives for their states, as those states lacked representation at
that time. Also, two council members who were not present at National Convention were installed. T e Council Meeting was also special because the fi rst male member to ever attend such a meeting was present. At the banquet on Saturday evening, President
Guilford presented a $25,000 donation to the Providence Health Foundation in Anchorage. T e donation will help Providence start important research into gynecological cancers. Both Past National President Ann Panteleakos
and President Guilford each presented $35,000 to Todd Marriott of the VFW National Home for Children for the Pond Restoration Project. See Page 12 for more information. VFW Commander-in-Chief John Biedrzycki was
the keynote speaker for the banquet. He inspired members present to really remember what the organizations fi ght for in their communities and on Capitol Hill. CD
