COME ONE, COME ALL E

“I was involved for years in an unofficial capacity, and now I’m in full capacity, and I’m hoping to accomplish great things for many years to come. I hope to learn all the programs, serve proudly and make accomplishments one at a time to help make the Auxiliary strong and prove it is a moving force.”

— Bill Fellner

veryone at Tech. Sgt. Walter C. Fulda VFW Auxiliary and Post 3433 in Ladson, South Carolina, knows Bill Fellner, Randell Brooks and Ed

Gallagher. Tey’ve been helping out for years. You’ll see Bill at the grill every steak night.

Randell pitches in, too. Ed and his wife, Post Surgeon Officer Trish Gallagher, team up to collect and deliver donations to the local VA hospital. Tat hasn’t changed. But something is

different. In a good way. Now these men (among nearly 20 others at Auxiliary 3433) are official members. Tey’re not just signing the guest book, which has been a great evolution, said Auxiliary President and retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Judy Duncan. “It’s so nice to have a pool of volunteers to

help support the Post and comrades,” she said. “We are so lucky to have this extra talent and these workers. It just makes us stronger.” “I followed my dad’s footsteps and joined

the Navy at age 18; I joined our local VFW Auxiliary in 1996, because female duties were limited during my time frame. I am so proud of female veterans who served in combat and became comrades. It is only fair that their male family members should be able to join the Auxiliary and are no longer just in the background.” Fellner, who has been an integral part –

unofficially – of the team at Auxiliary and Post 3433 for nine years, can now add officer to his credentials. He was recently elected Auxiliary Guard. He joined the Auxiliary on the eligibility of his father, who served honorably in Korea.
