OURHISTORY
Movies from Home The Auxiliary kicked off Movies from Home, a project that connected active-duty
military with their families half a world away, in late 1968. Mothers could introduce new babies and sons and daughters could say, “I love you” and “I miss you” to dads serving in the Vietnam War through the magic of television. The Auxiliary, then led by National President Lora Waters, provided families who
wanted to participate with a how-to kit that included instructions for getting in touch with a TV station that would fi lm their messages, and the right military base to ensure soldiers received their personal Movies from Home.
