Telling the story of Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Perón, Evita follows Eva’s journey from humble beginnings through to extraordinary wealth, power and iconic status which ultimately lead her to be heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’ by the Argentine people. Featuring some of this great writing team’s most famous songs, including Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, You Must Love Me, and Another Suitcase in Another Hall, Evita offers a powerful and memorable night at the theatre. Taking on the role of Eva Perón will be one of musical theatre’s most exciting leading ladies today, Emma Hatton. She recently fi nished wowing audiences in the lead role of Elphaba in the West End’s production


of Wicked.


Making his UK debut is leading Italian performer Gian Marco Schiaretti who will be taking on the role of Che. Gian Marco Schiaretti most recently played the title role of Tarzan in Disney’s Musical Tarzan, in Stuttgart. Prior to this he played Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet across Italy. Joining them will be Kevin Stephen-Jones, set to play Argentine President Juan Perón. He has performed extensively across the UK and Europe in over 20 different operas.

CAWL ON SAUNDERSFOOT FOR SAINT'S DAY CELEBRATION

Linden Church Trust in Swansea are one of 70 projects receiving a share of £275,493 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All small grants programme. The awards are made possible thanks to money being set aside for good causes from National Lottery ticket sales.

They receive £4,888 to train their Red Café staff to support community development through their work with vulnerable and marginalised people in the local community. Welcoming the grant, Kristina Williams of the project, said: “The Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme will enable us to invest in people through accredited training. It feels great to be able to invest in the people who have given so much to others through the various projects, to support their continued professional development and develop their skills in order to better meet the needs of the communities we work with.


“It is a great compliment that the Big Lottery Fund has recognised the value of Red Cafe’s work by awarding this grant and I know our staff team feel more valued now that we can invest in their training and development this year.”


Pontarddulais and District Community Car Scheme Ltd in Swansea receive £5,000 to purchase new equipment to meet the growing demands of their service users. With Music in Mind C.I.C. in Vale of Glamorgan will use £4,956 to pilot a new referral scheme for their singing groups, aimed to improve emotional wellbeing.

T e popular Pembrokeshire village of Saundersfoot is getting ready for a celebration of all things Welsh to mark the country's national day. On the weekend aſt er St David's Day, Saturday March 4 will see the village's legendary cawl trail complemented by a Welshfest featuring music, traditional costume and a dragon trail, together with produce and products made and grown in the locality. Organised by Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, the day will centre on the annual Cawl Cooking Championship of the World...and Elsewhere. Seven diff erent eating establishments in the village will be challenging for the title, which is judged on the taste-test of

Strolling musicians Fiddlebox will be out and about in the village to add to the lively atmosphere, while the Regency Hall will be the venue for a variety of stalls selling Welsh products and produce and also serving up a traditional Welsh aſt ernoon tea. Entry is free to the hall throughout the day, with the event's grand fi nale starting at 3pm with musical entertainment, cawl championship results and prizes for the dragon trail and fancy dress winners.
