Site manager James Bannister oversees Barratt’s new Boverton development

Barratt Homes has appointed James Bannister as site manager for its Sycamore Chase development - a brand new community of 65 homes in Boverton, in the Vale of Glamorgan. James joined Barratt in 2015 on the accelerated graduate scheme and was promoted to assistant site manager a year later. He is now taking charge of the new development as site manager. He is overseeing construction of three and four bedroom homes from the five star housebuilder with sales due to start in the autumn. Barratt sales director Richard Lawson said: “We think very carefully when appointing site managers for our new developments because they are crucial to the success of these important new communities. “James has the skills and experience to deliver homes of the quality our buyers have come to expect from us. I look forward to watching this impressive new development take shape over the coming months.”

Sycamore Chase, on the outskirts of St Athan, benefits from a rural location but with easy access to Barry, Cardiff and further afield. For further information about new homes

That’s the message from Dupree Mortgage Solutions, which has been providing mortgage advice for new homes for more than 20 years. A combination of more lenders looking for mortgage business together with really competitive fixed rate products, better criteria and smoother processes all mean there’s never been a better time to buy a new home with a mortgage. Gerry Dupree, Managing Director of DMS, said: “We are seeing a sharp increase in new enquiries at the start of the autumn period which traditionally is a favourite time to buy. With competitive interest rates and the government backed Help To Buy scheme, purchasers have an excellent range of options available.”

He explains: “Following the recent Bank of England rate rise, the message from the lenders is very much ‘business as usual’. In an increasingly competitive mortgage market, lenders continue to offer appealing rates as they vie for market share.” That’s the message from New Homes

Mortgage Helpline, the UK’s leading new homes mortgage advisory service. “Rates, criteria, fixed terms and length of offer have all been key areas of focus as the lenders strive to offer customers more attractive options to fund their new homes purchase.”

Richard Lawson, sales director of Barratt Homes South Wales division, said: “The truth is, thanks to new lenders entering the market, our customers have rarely had a greater range of fixed rate mortgages to choose from. In addition, the lenders have refined their processes which, coupled with the highly professional mortgage advisers we can direct our customers to, means applying for a loan should be smoother than ever. Richard added: “The news from lenders is a positive demonstration of confidence in the new home sector. What it means to buyers is that many who have previously rented a home because they felt they couldn’t get a mortgage – for instance someone who has been self- employed for less than three years – can now get on the property ladder.” Barratt Homes is currently working on new developments throughout Cardiff including Maes Y Deri in Radyr.
