Snowman. She is out of the EX94 Comestar Alysia Goldwyn and was originally bred by Richard Martin and was sold for 4000gns as a calf at the Black and White Sale 2012. “This heifer came from a strong class of Holstein heifers and won comfortably - she was in a class of her own today. She has a beautiful, feminine structure throughout and her tremendous udder was full of bloom.” Making it a worthwhile journey North from Monmouth for the Jones family, Sahara Goldwyn Sara 2 stood reserve overall Holstein. Fresh in April with her third, Sara is classified EX93 and is giving 42 litres a day and stood first at UK Dairy Day and second at the Royal Welsh.

Edward added: “She is a similar sort to the champion, but two lactations younger, any dairy producer would happily have a herd of either of these cows.” In the heifer class the quality was evident right down the line and set the standard for the day in the Holstein section. Standing second to the SuperHeifer was Holmland Lavanguard Pledge from the Lawrence family with son, Bob on the halter. This May calved heifer was junior champion at UK Dairy Expo 2014 and reserve champion at Lancashire and All Britain Calf Shows 2012. Top of the line in the three year old class was the VG88 Milliedale Dusk Rhapsody from Millie Wardle. This daughter of the EX96 SuperCow Peak Goldwyn Rhapsody calved in March with her second and is giving 40 litres a day. She was champion at Leek Show, second at the Great Yorkshire and first at UK Dairy Day last year. Second to her was Wyndford Earl Duchess 94 from Wilfred Maddocks. Shown two months fresh with her second calf, she gave 9064kg at 3.97%bf and 3.47%p as a heifer. She is by the Goldwyn son Wyndford Earl who is out of the EX95 Field of Dreams Formation Erle, while Duchess’ dam is by the Shottle son Wyndford Duttle. Leading the way in the four year old class was David Gray on the halter of David Yates’ Meiklefirth Plaid Lutske. Classified VG89 she calved in January with her second and is still giving 39 litres a day. By Windy-Knoll-View Plaid, she is out of the EX93 Meiklefirth Jordan Lutske. At UK Dairy Day last year she stood reserve overall champion having stood interbreed champion at Great Yorkshire and Ayr Shows earlier last summer. Standing second in this class was Riverdane Gold Angel from Riverdane Holsteins. She calved in March and as a heifer gave 10,832kg at 4.48%bf and 3.29%p. At the Royal Welsh last year she was honourable mention having taken the interbreed championship at Cheshire Show and fifth at the European Championships as a heifer. Her dam is by EX93 Outside daughter Hendomen Arlene 20 who was the 2009 Royal Show champion. In a strong class of 10 senior cows, second also went to Riverdane Holsteins with Riverdane Talented Ashlyn who is owned in
