BREEDERS ACHIEVEMENTS Reule Daisy 70 EX90-3E

Reule Daisy 70 EX90-3E has recently become the fifth LP100 cow in the Reule herd, late in her seventh lactation. Sired by Moet Pavane and born in October 2002, she is out of Reule Daisy 52 VG87 LP60, by Astonoak Dominance, who via Carnation Counselor traces back to 80 tonne cows by Strickler Showboy and Dalesend Performer, namely Reule Daisy 22 and Paxton Daisy 80.

The latter was a memorable first cross Holstein who had calved 12 times by 13 years and six months old and became our last surviving Paxton cow (we changed our prefix in 1982). She finished off with twin heifers, both of whom made it to 10 lactations and the last, Reule Florence frustratingly died on 99 tonnes early in her 14th lactation, so it is gratifying another descendent has made it. The Daisy family itself has been prominent for many decades and traces back on the farm to the 1950s. Reule Daisy 70 is one of the herd’s largest cows, but looks youthful and recently freshened with a third consecutive heifer after five bulls. She milks very persistently, but fertility issues have meant these heifers have all been the result of resorting to the stock bull! The eldest is a second calver by Sandisfarne Ramone.

Penllwyn Lawman May EX93-7E Now in her 15th lactation, in mid November 2014, Penllywn Lawman

May EX93-7E became the first cow in the Penllwyn herd to produce 100 tonnes of milk. More commonly known as number 856, she has produced two EX daughters, three VG daughters and a promising yearling.

By the herd stock bull Rowarton Lawman, a Chairman son, she milks alongside five generations currently in the herd and has many descendants milking in other herds around the county. She was entered in the Genus Long Life cow awards in 2014 and was awarded the title of Ceredigion County winner.
