€1.7 million Pirates themed land, La Crique des Pirates (Pirate's Cove) whose main attraction was the Pirates Attack interactive boat ride supplied by Mack. The scenery, which includes rocks, a shipwreck and a large stone skull head, was made out of concrete by Atelier Artistique du Béton (AAB). The expansion also included a gift shop, skill games and, later, a Sally Corp animatronic figure of a captain in a nice pirate ship scene, sharing his sea adventures to all.

2017/8 Patrice Fleurent has several projects in the pipeline at Fraispertuis City. In Spring 2017, the park will officially open its biggest ever investment ever (€6.5 million) in the shape of Golden Driller, a themed 66m/216.5ft tall Giant Drop tower manufactured by Intamin featuring 4 different vehicles (standard, sit down & tilt, floorless & tilt, stand-up & tilt). And in 2018, plans are to bring back to life the defunct dark ride La mine d'or with a touch of new technology.

Record-breaking rollercoaster Guests responded in a big way to La Crique des Pirates and two years later the park followed on with the most ambitious project in its history: Timber Drop, an S&S El Loco rollercoaster featuring two inversions and a stunning 113° drop crossing a huge concrete designed sequoia tree by AAB. At the grand opening, the €5.5 million thrill ride obtained a Guinness World Record for the world’s steepest drop on a rollercoaster, before being surpassed a few weeks after by Takabisha (Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter) at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan. But the record still stands in Europe! After Timber Drop, Fraispertuis City continued to add new rides, at least one per season, including several family rides from Zamperla, a Zierer family coaster (Ronde des Rondins) and a kiddie tower from Sunkid-Heege. The Fleurent family also focuses on improving the existing park facilities in order to increase guest satisfaction. Through their efforts, and despite a challenging environment with the adverse weather conditions and Paris' terror attacks, the park even broke a new attendance record in 2016 with 271,000 visitors, up 3.8% compared to the previous year.

“Our ultimate goal is to take care of our guests,” concludes Patrice Fleurent. “With the addition of Golden Driller – our new ride for 2017 [see panel, left] – we don't expect to achieve a record breaking attendance, but just meet their desires. These are our guests who have guided us for 50 years, they tell us what they like the most and what they wish for. We are listening to them because they keep our park alive.”

Happy 50th anniversary Fraispertuis City!

Golden Driller will be located near the Grand Canyon ride
