on site, of Pandora – The World of Avatar, the new themed realm coming this summer to the Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Florida. At a recent press conference,

D

Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bon Chapek revealed the entry bridge to Pandora – as pictured right. According to the storyline developed by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lightstorm Entertainment, this bridge was built during a time when a destructive company called the RDA (Resources Development Administration) came to Pandora. Now that they are long gone, nature is breaking down evidence of their presence. Soon Animal Kingom guests will able to explore the area as guests of Alpha Centauri Expeditions. “From the place-making to the two extraordinary attractions that will be in the land

– both the Na’vi River Journey as well as Avatar Flight of Passage, these promise to set new high-watermarks for our experiential magic we give our guests,” says Chapek. The two signature attractions of Panfora will be Avatar Flight of Passage, where guests will fly over the jungles of Pandora on a “Mountain Banshee”, and Na’vi River Journey, a family-friendly boat ride through bioluminescent forests. A themed F&B experience wil be provided at the Satu’li Canteen, featuring Na’vi

art and cultural items, while Windtraders will be where travellers can purchase Na’vi cultural items, toys, science kits and more. The Pongu Pongu will be a drink location with a design that is as eclectic as its Expat owner. Pandora – The World of Avatar has been developed by Disney and Lightstorm in

collaboration with filmmaker James Cameron. A second Avatar film is touted for release in late 2018.

Extraordinary Voyages

The Producers Group (TPG) and Premier Rides have partnered to conceive a new multimedia dining experience/attraction. Inadvertently, they've also given it the same name as Futuroscope's new flying theatre (see page 16). Themed in Steampunk style, Extraordinary Voyages comprises two (or any combination desired by the customer) passenger vehicles fitted out to resemble the inside of a railway carriage or luxury liner. As guests enjoy dinner, media content surrounds them and whisks them away to other cities or into the solar system. The average experience is expected to last around 1.5 hours (1 hour for lunch and 30-45 minutes’ show time), but a pre-show area and gift shop will extend dwell time and revenue. The attraction is offered by TPG and Premier as a turn- key package including motion-based simulation, audio-video technology and special effects. Extraordinary Voyages is suitable for theme parks, entertainment districts and

several other environments. With flexible show programming and content, updates to the attraction should encourage repeat visits.
