Industry observations The attractions industry, like the automotive industry, is among the most careful regarding safety. Ever more stringent inspection and specifications for rides have contributed to a general increase in safety. It would, however, be helpful for the industry to produce annual statistics to better inform people about this excellent safety record.

Top tips for for park developers It's important for newcomers to the industry to engage with qualified safety personnel when it comes to rides. In emerging countries, workers are often are hired from other industrial sectors (mechanical, electrical, chemical). It may seem like a good solution, but often it is not. Rides are complex objects – machines that carry people with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic parts that require experienced personnel to operate and maintain them safely.

International standards In Europe we are working hard in order to define an high (reasonable) level of standards for manufacturing and maintaining rides. The big challenge is to find a common standard that covers all existing kinds of rides from the simple carousel to the big rollercoaster. In some parts of the world these rules are accepted and followed, but in other places they are totally ignored.

2017 highlights We complete an average of 500 projects (small, medium and large) each year around the world. This year we are also working on a fully integrated architecture about ride safety and maintenance.
