Riello burners are chosen for a high profile government site in Swansea and a survey conducted by Giacomini has highlighted the importance of the original country of manufacture when it comes to making purchasing decisions.

Riello

Riello burners have been chosen for refurbished boilers at a high profile government site in Swan- sea, managed by Telereal Trillium. Two burner manufacturers were invited to tender for the programme and Riello undertook a full burner matching process, which included a site visit and assessment of the existing installation. Following a presentation to Telereal Trillium, RLS300 EV O2 BLU low NOx dual-fuel burners were identified as offering the best option. In addition to delivering the required performance, the compact ‘monobloc’ design of the RLS300 EV O2 BLU enabled better use of available space in the plant room. The burners were supplied with a Siemens LMV52 burner manage- ment system, which will work in conjunction with Riello’s electronic CAM technology to enhance combustion efficiency through accurate control of excess oxygen levels. Further efficiencies will be achieved using oxy- gen trim control and variable speed control of the main fan motor. Riello worked closely with the project team throughout to ensure timely delivery of burners and ancillary equipment in line with the programme of works.

76% of people think country of manufacture is important when it comes to purchasing. A survey, carried out by Giacomini UK, explored attitudes towards manufacturing and revealed some interesting post- Brexit insights. When asked if the country of origin was checked before purchasing building and HVAC supplies, just 19% said that they never check, which demonstrates the importance of a product’s origin when making purchasing decisions. 83.5% of respondents said they prefer to buy products from a European manufacturer. Just 8% said they would never buy a product if they knew it was made in Europe. The survey also focused on more specific issues within the HVAC industry and asked if heat interface units have made converting offices to residential properties more achievable. 84% agreed, reinforcing the noticeable growth that Giacomini UK has seen since regulations surrounding planning permission were altered, meaning Class B1 offices could be converted to Class C3 residential dwellings without the need for specific planning and development permission.
