ELCO

ELCO Heating Solutions has launched the TRIGON XL range of floor standing gas condensing boilers. Available in seven different models with outputs from 150-570kW, the TRIGON XL range offers many benefits including: ultra-low NOx emissions complying with class 6 (2018) requirements, an 8 bar working pressure, 30k flow/return temperature differential, superb seasonal efficiencies and an ultra- compact footprint. The boiler’s low NOx emissions are achieved by using a commercially proven premix-burner system, which includes a fully modulating, water cooled cold flame burner. This is combined with an optimised combustion system and stainless steel heat exchanger to provide a reliable and robust lifetime performance – while also offering gross seasonal efficiencies up to 97.5%. With an 8 bar maximum working pressure, TRIGON XL is also compatible with higher buildings without the need for hydraulic system separation. In addition, a 30K flow/return temperature differential allows easier integration with district heating systems while maintaining optimum efficiency. www.elco.co.uk

JS Air Curtains

JS Air Curtains has supplied 12 Mini Optima air cur- tains for the doorways at the British Airways i360 observation attraction in Brighton to maintain the internal temperature for visitors and staff. The stylish Mini Optima air curtain was specifically chosen as the best fit for both the curved inner and outer doorways to keep the cool condi- tioned air in during the summer and the cold air out during the winter. Each air curtain supplies up to 2,150m³/hr of air and up to 9kW/h of heat making them ideal for protecting the 2.6m high doorways. Units were re- quired in both 1m and 1.5m lengths to cover the various entrance widths, while a grey RAL9006 colour was picked out for the zinc plated steel cas- ing, to blend in with the interior design. A British Airways i360 spokesperson said: ‘‘We are very happy with the performance of the air curtains.”

The slim design of the Mini Optima air curtain makes it an ideal choice

for many applications. Installation is simple as it is available as a single or, as in the case of the British Airways i360 project, three-phase option. www.jsaircurtains.com

Advanced Air

Advanced Air has launched a truly reversible fan coil unit. There are many advantages with this new design. The most significant is for the contractor who can now put on order fan coils without specifying the handing.

On most projects the handing of the fan coils is not finalised until late in the design process and many manufacturers cannot start production without this information. With the new fan coil orders can be accepted without the handings and production can commence. This is particularly helpful on fast track programmes where handings may not have been finalised until days before deliveries have to be made. Advanced Air can commence manufacture and even finish the fan coil unit without the handings. Changing the handing of the unit only takes a few minutes in the factory and can be undertaken on site by the contractor or specialist fitters. A universal coil means that it can be easily removed, rotated through 180°, the heating coil section moved and the new coil assembly quickly refitted with the new handing arrangements. www.advancedair.co.uk

Smith’s has appointed Alex Muirhead as Regional Sales Manager, with special focus on the consultants and contractor markets. Alex’s substantial experience in the

commercial fan convector sector will see him play a key part of Smith’s drive for growth during 2017. “We are delighted to see Alex join Smith’s and

welcome the industry experience, knowledge and understanding that he brings with him,” said Gary Haynes, Smith’s MD. “Alex joins us at a very exciting time as we develop our commercial offering with new extensions to our core Caspian brand and other market-leading products to the UK market. For example, our partnership with Czech heating specialists, MINIB, now means we are offering trench heating as part of our overall commercial solution, and we anticipate Alex will be an instrumental part of this planned growth and success.”

Insulation has been installed as part of the iconic new extension to Tate Modern in London. The 64.5m tall tower, named the Switch House,

adjoins Tate Modern’s existing home within the former Bankside Power Station to provide over 5000m2

of new exhibition space spread over

ten levels. The new extension officially opened to the public in June 2016.

Kingspan Kooltherm FM Duct Insulation was installed on the project in a 40 mm thickness. The insulation has been developed to provide premium performance and comprises a fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic insulation core, which is Class 0 as defined by Building Regu- lations, and is externally faced with an aluminium vapour barrier foil and internally faced with glass tissue. Its rigid nature ensures the specified thickness is maintained at the corners, and can help to create a continuous and fully sealed vapour barrier for a more aesthetically pleasing finish.

At ISH in Frankfurt from 14-18 March Clivet (Booth C85 - Hall 10.2) will present its complete comfort system proposal. Thanks to the strategic alliance with Midea, the manu-

facturer of consumer appliances and HVAC systems, Clivet has expanded its specialised solutions for high comfort buildings, introducing a wide and comprehensive range of direct expansion units, including the innovative line with R32 refrigerant and a new VRF line-up that will be presented for the first time at ISH. Clivet will showcase the new series of high performance VRF outdoor units with All DC inverter EVI (Enhanced Vapor Injection) compressors and enlarged heat exchange area for the maximum efficiency; its compact ter- minal units with DC brushless fan motors for higher efficiency and lower operation noise, as well as extended lifespan; and its cross flow heat re- covery ventilation system, which grants air quality while saving energy. Clivet has been offering innovative air conditioning products and solu- tions for more than 25 years.
