MICHAEL BRADY From

to M

ichael (Mick) Brady may offi cially hold the title of ‘trainee engineer’, but those who have worked with him know he’s operating well beyond that

label. With nearly fi ve years at Climarite Refrigeration and now in his fi nal year at City of Liverpool College, Mick is fast approaching full qualifi cation as a RACHP engineer – though his impact is already being felt across the industry. Mick’s journey into ACR wasn’t straightforward. Like

many, he began his working life searching for a career that could off er both purpose and fi nancial stability. When his fi rst child was born, he was just 20 and fi nancial security understandably took priority – but it often came at the cost of job satisfaction. His break into the industry came unexpectedly, via a role as a storeroom manager at a national refrigeration fi rm. It was here that Mick’s interest in refrigeration was sparked. He asked questions, observed closely and gradually developed a fascination with the technical side of the trade. That curiosity, paired with determination, led him to successfully persuade a subcontractor to take him on as an apprentice – a move supported by his then employer, who later became a client. Starting an apprenticeship while supporting a young family was no easy feat. Mick couldn’t aff ord a signifi cant pay cut, so he worked relentlessly – taking every opportunity

to learn, while picking up extra shifts to make ends meet. He embraced the challenge and it paid off . He progressed quickly, soon earning more than ever before – but more importantly, he had fi nally found work he genuinely loved. His natural ability to lead and support others has seen him take on mentorship roles, guiding apprentices and new starters with the same care and encouragement he once received. Recently, he ran a series of refrigeration workshops at a local college – sharing both his knowledge and inspiring career journey. Mick’s story is one of resilience, reinvention and relentless hard work. Loyal, driven, humble, and endlessly likeable, he’s the kind of person everyone wants on their team – and exactly the kind of role model the ACR industry needs. He isn’t just progressing through the ranks; he’s helping redefi ne what success looks like in this trade.

Today, Mick is not just building a career, but a legacy. He’s widely respected by his colleagues at Climarite Refrigeration, admired by tutors and peers at City of Liverpool College, and valued by customers and suppliers alike. A dedicated engineer. An

industry mentor. An ACR Hero.
