Editor’s note W
Welcome to the July issue of ACR News
e have two interviews from opposite ends of the acr spectrum. Our 2024 Alan Moore winner John Skelton, who has been heavily involved in the
acr industry for many years takes our pop quiz and reveals the secrets to his success. Just starting out is our Trainee of the Year
Shawni Dunn, who talks to us about her experiences so far, and how to encourage more new people into the industry. We have a focus on spare and accessories in this issue which starts with Kevin
Glass of Bitzer UK explaining how counterfeit or sub-standard parts are a false economy, and could cost you dear in the long run. Tom Burniston of Samon reveals how to future-roof refrigerant gas detection through the HFC phasedown, while Nick Warrick of All Seasons Uniforms shares some tips for workplace safety. Cold stores and blast freezers are high-risk environments, and businesses
have a legal duty to understand and manage these risks. Steve Shipp of Ultra Refrigeration explores the nature of those risks, how they can be minimised and the part that can be played by good refrigeration system design, while Jason Hibbs of Jet Environmental Systems discusses HVAC controls development and integration in warehouse applications. We also take a look at Mitsubishi Electric’s has new training centre which
recently opened at its factory complex in Livingston, Scotland, in answer to the UK’s growing demand for heat pumps. Along with all our regular features, I hope you fi nd this issue informative and
interesting.
