Cold Chain Federation launches emerging leaders programme


T


he Cold Chain Federation has launched a Cold Chain Emerging Leaders Programme


that supports developing skills and experiences crucial to the industry’s leaders today and in the future. Starting with two awards in 2024, the new programme will see emerging leaders working in temperature-controlled logistics selected every year to benefi t from a range of new skills and experiences. The award winners’ year-long programme will include enrolling in a tailored leadership course, participating in the Cold Chain Federation’s defi nitive industry events, and experience in communicating through industry media. executive Phil Pluck said: “In our fast-moving industry, developing future skills is of the highest priority for every cold chain operator and the industry as a whole. We are delighted to launch the Cold Chain Emerging Leaders Programme today and to invite all CCF storage and distribution members to nominate


individuals for the selection process. “This new programme will help CCF members give their talented, hard-working people the chance to shine. It will also help build skills that will be crucial for temperature- controlled logistics leaders in the future within our industry. The Cold Chain Federation is committed to supporting CCF members in this essential mission. Programme will include enrolment for each of the two 2024 award winners in a 12-month emerging leadership course delivered in partnership with The Leadership Trust. This course, a combination of residential courses, online workshops, and coaching modules, will guide the participants in becoming infl uential cold chain leaders. The two emerging leaders will also benefi t from attendance at the three fl agship CCF events: the Climate Summit, the CCF Parliamentary Reception and Cold

Carrier’s climate and net zero targets validated by SBTi


Carrier Global Corporation has released its greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, including a target to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, which have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). A corporate climate action organisation, SBTi enables companies and fi nancial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. SBTi’s target validation team has validated Carrier’s near- and long-term greenhouse gas emission reduction goals as in line with a trajectory to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Carrier’s specifi c targets are: ■ Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.


■ Reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 25% within the same time-frame.


■ Reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050.
