CONTENTS From the editor W

elcome to the December issue of ACR News. As COP28 gets underway, it is of course

contentious, not least because this year the hosts are oil producers. On the one hand, motives are naturally suspect, but on the other hand, fossil fuel businesses must be engaged and be a part of the discussions to work towards a sustainable future. In any case, surely producers of refrigerant gases, most especially those that produce ‘natural’ gases that rely on the fossil fuel industry will be watching the proceedings with interest.

Regardless, we are certainly in a time of transition, and in this issue Professor Dick Powell of Refrigerant Solutions looks at the challenges of retrofi tting in this landscape.

A report from MSA looks at compliance and safety standards for ammonia leak detection. Finally, Nigel Upson of DK Heat Recovery, talks about heat recovery from refrigeration and air conditioning on the road to net zero for the refrigeration industry.

I hope you fi nd this issue informative and interesting,
