grown over the years and now has a national following. Although it’s local to me, I hadn’t taken part before, but it had been on my list before the pandemic.” He added: “The charity is a worthy cause as the lockdowns resulted in many elderly people becoming isolated and lonely and a lot of age-related operations being cancelled, aff ecting the quality of life for many. “The older generation has a great deal to off er in terms of their increased


experience and knowledge, however they are sometimes overlooked. Taking part in the event also helped increase my fi tness levels as part of training for a half marathon planned for next year.” Graham was among 6000 runners who took to the streets of Leeds for the fund-raising event, with cool and dry weather on the day providing near-perfect conditions. With support from Bitzer UK colleagues, friends and family, James participation contributed to circa £50,000 total raised for the charity.
