NEWS Fresh start for Eurovent fan certifi cation
Eurovent Certita Certifi cation has added a revamped Fan certifi cation scheme to its portfolio of Eurovent Certifi ed Performance programmes. Developed specifi cally for fans intended for use in Air Handling Units (AHUs), the new programme is sure to breathe fresh air into fan certifi cation. Redevelopment of the Fan
programme started in the spring of 2023, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Eurovent Certita Certifi cation, the Eurovent trade association, the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc, the European Air Movement and Control Association (EU AMCA) and the Asia Air Movement and Control Association (ASIA AMCA). Since then, Eurovent Certita
Certifi cation has been working in collaboration with the AMCA to develop an added-value fan
certifi cation programme, off ering a more dynamic approach to certifying products. Aiming to remove the administrative and cost barriers that fan manufacturers face when certifying products, the certifi cation programme has been developed using AMCA evaluation protocols and the Eurovent Certita Certifi cation audit process. Combining the best of AMCA and Eurovent into a certifi cation programme, the new scheme enables manufactures to prove performance and reliability of products, while allowing HVAC professionals to identify, specify and install products they can trust. Under the improved Eurovent
Certifi ed Performance programme for fans, products are evaluated by the AMCA according to their most-current testing and rating standards, covering aspects such as air fl ow rates and available pressure, with options for
certifying acoustic characteristics and energy effi ciency. Once products have achieved AMCA certifi cation, they can apply for the Fans Eurovent Certifi ed Performance mark by undergoing an initial admission audit. This one-day audit verifi es the consistency between what is declared by manufacturers, upheld by AMCA certifi cation, and what is produced and sold by the manufacturer, elevating certifi ed products to a new level of validation. In addition to this initial audit,
Eurovent Certita Certifi cation will carry out an annual audit to ensure products continue to reach certifi cation standards. The yearly audit has other benefi ts as it aids manufacturers own quality control processes and reduces the risk and costs associated with quality issues and customer complaints. Additionally, audits provide
substantial feedback which can be useful for R&D teams and product development.
For those specifying, installing and
operating products, the revamped certifi cation scheme ensures professionals can be confi dent that certifi ed products will deliver the performance promised by the manufacturer. Fan certifi cation will be available globally, in a joined-up programme designed to keep certifi cation standards high, while reducing manufacturer costs and administrative burden. Sylvain Courtey, president of
Eurovent Certita Certifi cation said: “By joining together the expertise of our respective teams, we have evolved fan evaluation and validation by creating a next generation certifi cation scheme, that will benefi t not only fan and AHU manufacturers, but the whole industry internationally.”
