Products that use this new technology allow homeowners to monitor the status of their home wherever they are via an app on their phone and, importantly, this app also alerts homeowners when the battery is running low. This can save lives, with statistics showing that more than 20% of house fires go undetected due to faulty or expired batteries in the alarms.
