TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL SICK Launches All-in-One

Curtiss-Wright launches EN ISO 13849 compliant motor controller

New C3-CE is ideal for small industrial and Class 3 vehicle applications

he C3-CE from Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial division is a new addition to the high- performing, compact and cost-effective C3 motor controller range. It is EN ISO 13849 compliant, compatible with all types of AC induction motors and provides OEMs with a controller that is ideal for small industrial vehicle applications, including Class 3 pallet trucks. The new C3-CE retains all the features and benefits of the original C3 motor controller but has been CE marked as a safety component and designed with EN ISO 13849 Category 3 hardware architecture – including dual microprocessors, dual inputs and a dedicated B+Safe output. This provides a safer and more convenient approach that, unlike the conventional and widely-used Category 2 architecture, doesn’t require the safety function to be checked at ‘machine start-up’ and ‘prior to the initiation of any hazardous situation’, which can be inconvenient and potentially dangerous.

DWS System for Logistics S

ICK has developed an all-in-one, simple-to-use solution that integrates Dimensioning, Weighing and Scanning (DWS) for automated track and trace of goods in transit through storage, materials handling and distribution operations.

The SICK Master Data Analyzer enables easy real-time management of work flow by combining barcode reading, full dimensioning, visual profiling and accurate weighing in a single unit. The system is simple to install and use, with a plug-and-play set-up that eliminates the need to invest in expert programming or integration.

“The SICK Master Data Analyzer is a clever, ‘no- hassle’ answer to revenue optimisation and safe, space-effective loading and storage,” explains Mark Harris, SICK UK’s auto-identification and systems product manager.

“The system enables the

standardised recording, manipulation, analysis and maintenance of master data for consistent high- quality DWS data values, no matter what profile of object is measured.”

“The Master Data Analyzer can replace all those legacy systems of separate dimensioners,

ident

readers and weighers with an all-in-one unit. Therefore, there is no need to invest in expert programming skills to make the data from diverse systems compatible and readable, or for skilled engineering to integrate different systems together.

The SICK Master Data Analyzer comprises an electronic scales, horizontal and vertical light grids as a weighing and dimensioning/profiling portal and a hand held 1D/2D barcode scanner for identification. The portal is operated by a controller, with a local data display monitor, which feeds the raw identification, weight, dimensions and profile data through a SICK-developed advanced algorithm and uploads it in real time to the control system, without the need for an external PC or screen.

AL-KO Kober continues its investment in Bradley Doublelock & Dixon Bate brands

The move to integrate the Bradley business and the manufacture of the diverse product range into the Southam plant will enable long standing customer relationships to continue,

improving the efficiency of supply of products that have led the trailer and towing components market for decades. The company has also completed a product

rationalisation program that identifies similar products across the ranges from both companies. Where possible, this has led to a refinement in the products being offered and opened up the wider availability of components to both Bradley and AL-KO customers.

F

ollowing the merger between AL-KO Kober Vehicle Technology Division and Dexter Axle in

2016, AL-KO Kober Limited has relocated and integrated its Bradley Doublelock business into the company’s UK headquarters in Warwickshire. The relocation is part of a group-wide review of the Yorkshire-based business and includes all sales and manufacturing departments. An AL-KO Kober spokesman says: “Significant efforts have already been made to re-energise Bradley and Dixon Bate since we acquired the company and this move has been designed to further strengthen the organisation. It will ensure that we provide the best range of heavy-duty towing and trailer equipment and vehicle chassis solutions available in the market; and that both brands continue to lead the industry.”

“Meeting buyers expectations and ensuring customers get what they need, when they need it has been a major objective throughout the project. To meet this, we have put in place supplier relationships with wholesalers to hold stocks of the frequently-ordered ranges to improve and maintain consistent delivery lead times.” The Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland territories will continue to be supported by the sales and distribution office based in Athlone, County Westmeath.

Intelligent, Innovative, Ecological

transport technology: mountable underneath the transport level of raceway conveyors, the inventor of this extraordinary design format is now presenting intelligent, multitalented sensors which are not only setting new standards where environmental protection is concerned. Together with a broad range of variants, near field communication (NFC) and smart logistics functions result in an ideal product for logistics 4.0. Available as reflex sensor with background suppression, retro-reflex sensor or logic unit, the new sensors can be supplied with or without accumulation logic and with valve (for pneumatics) or without valve (for motorized rollers) – a dream come true for all logistics technicians. As products which are perfectly matched to the special requirements of the system – like custom-made items – but nevertheless can be used to implement a great variety of applications with a single format, the sensors for roller conveyor systems are wenglor’s ideal response to the needs of automated logistics.
