ADVERTORIAL TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

Smart drive assumes local control

Enabling centralized as well as autonomous operation

F

requency inverters from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS can react flexibly in case of disrupted communication with a central control system. The on-board, pre-programmed PLC can take control, initiate a defined state for halting operations, or keep the application running. In process plants this can help avoid costs, for instance by preventing spoiled batches. In manufacturing facilities, material flow can be maintained. As NORD intelligent drives feature various interfaces and are able to evaluate sensor and actuator data, optimal integration in the application is ensured.

Autonomous control

capability obviously has other uses beyond fallback scenarios. In some instances, users may wish to deliberately switch the smart drive over to local control. For set-up,

testing, or maintenance, the

distributed frequency inverter can additionally be equipped with switches for manual drive direction and speed control.

odula`s automated storage and retrieval solutions are designed to optimise space and improve your picking and storage operations. Modula’s products help your company to recover up to 90% of valuable floor space while improving picking accuracy, enhancing security.

increasing productivity and

The Vertical Lift Module (VLM) utilises the full ceiling height of your facility thereby maximising the storage potential. Items are stored in systems up to 14,1 m high, in a safe, secure environment and automatically delivered to the operator, unnecessary walking, bending and stretching.

Modula offers one of the most advanced picking system in the (VLM) market. It is possible to combine Modula’s industry exclusive external dual delivery picking bay with any one of Modula`s pick to light systems; for example our laser pointer system pinpoints the SKU by mapping it on an X,Y axis. The result is an increase in picking rates and pick accuracy along with higher productivity for operators between tray deliveries.

All of this is combined with the highest tray load capacities, up to 990kg and very fast pick cycle times.

Part of the automation specialist System Group, we provide high density, cost saving storage solutions from 58 locations worldwide. Offering a consultative approach, we work closely with our customers to provide one of the most cost effective and innovative solution.

If you have a desire to save space, save time and save money then why not contact Modula for a free survey and consultation?

the cloth washing operation. Acid washing of filter cloths is used extensively in metal finishing. A low pressure acid solution is recirculated through the filter press to partially dissolve and dislodge the solid particles that ‘blind’ the cloths. Particles in this aggressive recirculating solution can cause catastrophic damage to pumps with dynamic seals but being seal-less by design, Hydra-Cell pumps are reported to be unaffected and give many years of trouble-free service. Now, with the addition of the Q Series high horsepower quintuplex

Wieland Compactor Control Solution increases Performance Levels and Ensures Compliance

ensuring that the company complies with all the necessary standards. When new Harmonised EN Standard, EN 16500:2014, a new construction guide to the safety of vertical compactors and balers, was introduced it brought with it some challenges, with the electrical and mechanical safety of these press machines being outlined. Wieland worked closely to assist Pearce Compaction in understanding and reacting to the standard in-line with the machinery Directive for the company’s vertical balers. Pearce Compaction Systems is a family owned business that has been established in the recycling industry since 1869. Now a leading integrated service provider, the company offers an extensive range of recycling services, solutions and equipment that are tailored to suit your recycling needs.

New EN Standard means improved glove testing

and cut protection assessment

rco, the UK’s leading safety company, has published a summary of the Standard Updates within an Expert Guide,

A available online for

customers to download. The most significant changes to the Standard relate to cut protection: if during the original ‘coupe’ test method the blade blunts, then an additional EN ISO test method is required. Safety experts at Arco believe that the new cut test method is more appropriate for high risk cut environments, however, they consider that the changes in the new European standard could be both misleading and confusing for customers. Arco suggests if blunting occurs within the first (coupe) method and the glove has to undergo the additional ISO assessment, the original coupe test should be void and the glove marked with an X in place of the coupe rating.
