LUXONIC LIGHTS UP LOGISTICS with HI-MAX luminaires

Leading manufacturer of innovative lighting solutions Luxonic is slashing energy consumption and providing industrial facilities with impressively high returns on investment

Independent trial tests by ABP showed that HI-MAX installations rapidly cut energy consumption by a staggering 96%

L

uxonic, the UK’s foremost designer of lighting solutions, is bringing factory

lighting into the digital age with its HI-MAX range for open area and racking. With industrial facilities of all sizes facing growing operational costs, Luxonic’s intelligent controls and luminaires are enabling significant reductions in energy consumption and substantial financial savings. A recent report from Barclays found that if every UK manufacturer invested in energy technology and committed to improving the environmental impact of their operations, manufacturing output would rise by £2.56 billion, cut energy consumption by 31.6% and increase the overall sector value by 5.1% to a giant £160 billion. Energy efficiency is, therefore, an

important consideration for the industrial sector and businesses can benefit from nearly immediate returns on investment if they embrace energy improving technology. In an evermore digital age Luxonic has taken its consistent innovation in the LED sector and provided businesses, warehouses and facilities with the lighting and control products to make key energy and financial savings.

CUTTING CONSUMPTION AND SECURING SAVINGS One of Luxonic’s leading sustainable lighting and control solutions is the HI-MAX. This range of high-powered suspended luminaires are purported to be the leading energy saving solution for

open area and racking thanks to their ultra energy efficient high bay LED design. The range boasts a high output LED range of 10,250 to 41,000 lumens with a LED life of up to 60,000 hours L90. HI-MAX can be suspended or surface mounted at heights of up to 15 metres and a presence detector means fittings can be set to switch between full to dimmed output dependent on when warehouse space is occupied. Nick Tavaré, managing director of Luxonic, emphasises the importance of investing in energy-cutting measures, particularly for businesses which operate large-scale factories and warehouses: “Our highly sustainable and ultra energy

efficient products allow our clients to future-proof their operations. Not only does LED technology offer a far more energy efficient alternative to the traditional lighting options, but luminaires like the HI-MAX range can save facilities upwards of £10,000 in the first few weeks of installation which can then be channeled back into the business.” Working from the energy efficiency

evaluations of its previous HI-MAX projects, Luxonic anticipate that clients installing the range along a similar scale could make energy savings of up to or in excess of 87%. One client saw a reduction in energy costs of over £15,000 within a two-week period following the installation of the HI-MAX range with the highly sustainable LEDs’ running costs coming in as little as £0.11 per KWhr.

S6 JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2017 | MATERIALS HANDLING & LOGISTICS

FROM PORTS TO PARCELS Leading warehouses including Associated British Port’s (ABP) Hull terminal have been enjoying considerable savings after seeking Luxonic’s sought-after solutions. ABP needed a system that met the energy demands of its 24-hour warehouse and Luxonic suggested the HI-MAX range, specially developed for production facilities and warehouse racking. Independent trial tests by ABP showed that HI-MAX installations rapidly cut energy consumption by a staggering 96%. ABP are just one of many warehousing

and industrial companies that are waking up to the cost and energy benefits of the HI-MAX. E-commerce giants Amazon and The Hut Group have now both equipped their warehousing facilities with luminaires from the range; Amazon selected the highly sustainable LED for its double-height mezzanine areas with The Hut Group installing the HI-MAX in production and studio spaces for the benefit of staff completing detailed tasks. Nick, who founded Luxonic in 1986,

continues: “With every project we aim to provide our clients with the best lit environment for the least expense of power whilst always considering the purpose of each space to determine the most suitable solution. For warehouses and factories as vast as The Hut Group’s Warrington base, for example, the HI-MAX range was ideal: a sustainable, high-powered LED that keeps energy consumption to an absolute minimum.”

INVEST IN TOMORROW Now in place in warehouses, factories and other industrial facilities, small and large, for manufacturers to e-commerce providers alike, businesses around the UK are switching on to the advantages of the HI-MAX range. As a method of reducing energy consumption and increasing financial savings any business within the logistics industry should consider utilising LED power when illuminating factory floors and aisles.
