ARGENTUM LAUNCHES NEW RESOURCES
During the Senior Living Executive Conference, several new Argentum products and services were launched to enhance the member experience.
Argentum released a new report, Caring for our Aging Nation: Policy Solutions to Increase Access to Assisted Living. Briefly, the report finds:
• 70 percent of Americans over the age of 65 will require some form of long-term care in their lifetime, 50 percent will need extensive care, and 20 percent will need care for five years or more. By 2050, the number of Americans requiring long-term care services will triple.
DAY 3:
The final day of the conference featured a keynote from the best-selling author, Ben Nemtin. Ben shared touching stories of helping others to inspire and offered insight that can improve our daily life and work environment. He helped attendees understand that a service culture can unlock potential and align team members in the workplace and their communities. Key takeaways from the session included five reasons why helping others actually helps yourself; why we can’t take care of others unless we care for ourselves; how to harness the power of the “ripple effect” by making kindness contagious; and how to transform your understanding of what is possible.
Overall, SLEC 2023 was an invaluable experience that provided senior living professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to stay ahead of the competition. Attendees gained valuable knowledge, forged meaningful connections, and left with a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to improving the lives of older adults. The conference’s success sets high expectations for the upcoming conference in Phoenix, Ariz., making it an event not to be missed by senior living professionals passionate about shaping the industry’s future.
28 SENIOR LIVING EXECUTIVE JULY/AUGUST 2023
• Many Americans are not financially prepared for their long- term care needs.
• Compared to other long-term care providers, assisted living offers lower costs, improved quality of life, better health outcomes, and reduced health care costs.
• Americans want policymakers at all levels of government to do more to help meet the nation’s growing long-term care needs, and support a number of public and private solutions.
• There are a number of legislative and regulatory approaches to improve the accessibility of assisted living, including strengthening the long-term care insurance market so more Americans can afford coverage, resolving the workforce shortage to increase the availability of caregivers and to reduce labor costs, amending the tax code to encourage saving for long-term care, and to increase reimbursement to allow more people to benefit from assisted living.
