National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine

The ISEH forms part of the the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM). The NCSEM is a major new Department of Health initiative to deliver education, research and clinical services from three hubs in London, Loughborough and Sheffield.

During 2014 there has been some good progress across the NCSEM network with London now fully operational, Loughbough opening in the early part of 2015 and the city wide programme in Sheffield taking shape.

In November 2014 an agreement was signed by the three NCSEM accountable officers for the funding agreement between Public Health England and the NCSEM. The funding will support infrastructure set up costs and the appointment of a position to co-ordinate the activities of the NCSEM.

This position and will be based at the NSCEM East Midlands site at Loughborough University and will play a key role in co-ordinating projects across the three sites.

“One of the greatest ambitions for 2012 is to have lasting legacy for health which is why I wholeheartedly support the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine. Our partners in the East Midlands, London and Sheffield will undertake world-class research and provide services that will deliver long term systematic change to benefit the health of the nation.”

Lord Sebastian Coe
