One of the things that an organizaon like Community Associaons Instute oers to give value to its membership is the services that it provides to each of its constuent groups. The interesng thing about CAI is that our membership is made up of four groups, each with dierent interests, which makes it even harder to provide for everyone. These groups include the Community Associaon Volunteer Leaders (CAVL) who live in the communies and who serve on their community’s board of directors, the Managers (MGR) and Management Companies (MGMT) who employ many of the professional managers who manage the communies, and the Business Partners (BP) that provide services to the communies.
What an interesng group!
The mission of CAI is to inspire professionalism, eecve leadership and responsible cizenship in these communies. If you look at our website (
cai-padelval.org), you will see that one of the key factors that makes us successful as a chapter is the multude of programs and opportunies for everyone.
For CAVLs, there is a category of educaon just for you. This includes the newly designed Board Leadership Development Program which serves as an orientaon for newly elected volunteer leaders or a refresher course for those who’ve served for some me. We also oer our live and on-demand webinars to CAVL members free of charge. And, of course, our upcoming Annual Conference & Expo also features educaonal sessions tailored specically for you, including our new Ask the Experts Chat Room session where you can ask quesons and get answers from three expert professionals in engineering / reserves, insurance, and the law.
For Community Associaon Managers, one example of our ongoing programs is the Manager Educaon Breakfast Club—four seminars each year on crical topics to managing your communies. We also have some great educaonal programs to choose from at the Annual Conference & Expo, including topics on bankruptcy, insurance, technology, hoarding, and even drones in community associaons. Managers can earn up to two connuing educaon credits and ten points towards your PCAM applicaon. Manager members who aend the conference will also get free admission to our Manager Designaons Networking Event (May 17) and Summer Networking Party (August 3).

For Business Partners, there are ongoing networking events to provide opportunies for you to meet and network with managers and volunteer leaders. Another great benet is CAI Naonal’s Educated Business Partner educaon program. Addionally, we oer the opportunity to speak at chapter educaonal programs on topics related to your areas of experse as well as opportunies to write arcles for our blog and magazine. And, of course, our business partners have the opportunity to parcipate as an integral part of our Annual Conference & Expo as an exhibitor, presenter, adverser, or sponsor. All of these methods further allow you to increase your visibility with the rest of the membership.
Although we are a varied and diverse organizaon, all of our members have the primary objecve of keeping our organizaon strong by sharing not only their experse but also aending educaonal seminars to increase their knowledge of what they do. The goal everyone has is to keep our industry strong and respected by connuing to improve on the quality of what they do.
That’s what makes being a part of this industry rewarding for all of us.
