2 BACKGROUND TO THE PROJECT

2.1 Background to the East Anglia Zone 3.

In 2008 The Crown Estate (TCE) announced the third round of offshore windfarm leasing, ‘Round 3’, with the aim of delivering 25GW (gigawatts) of new generation capacity from offshore wind by 2020. East Anglia Offshore Wind Limited (EAOW) has entered into a Zone Development Agreement (ZDA) with TCE for Zone 5, the East Anglia Zone, located off the coast of East Anglia in the southern North Sea. East Anglia ONE was the first project to be brought forward in this zone. The proposed East Anglia THREE project is the next to be brought forward in the zone. East Anglia THREE Limited (EATL) has been set up by EAOW to develop this project.

2.2 Background to the proposed East Anglia THREE project 4.

2.2.1 Outline Project Design

2.2.1.1 Offshore Components and Activities 5.

It is anticipated that the proposed project will consist of the following offshore infrastructure:

 Offshore wind turbines and associated foundations (anticipated to be up to maximum of 172 wind turbines, each having a rated capacity of between 7MW and 12MW, with an installed capacity of up to 1,200MW);

 Scour protection around foundations and on inter-array, interconnection and export sub-sea cables as required;

 Offshore collector and converter stations with foundations (up to five);  Up to two meteorological masts (met masts) and their associated foundations;

 Sub-sea cables between the wind turbines (inter-array) and the offshore platforms, between offshore platforms and East Anglia ONE (interconnection) between the offshore platforms and the shore (offshore export) and fibre optic cables; and

 A possible separate accommodation platform with associated foundations.

2.2.1.2 Onshore Components and Activities 6.

HRA High Level Screening May 2014

It is anticipated that the proposed project will consist of the following onshore infrastructure:
