innovative projects worldwide for the leather industry to be born inside the association – Design na Pele. CICB promotes Brazilian leather nationally and internationally, representing an industry responsible for more than 40,000 direct jobs and the production of 43 million hides a year. Together with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), CICB supports and coordinates the Brazilian Leather project for exports, where the Design na Pele project was born.

For 2017, Design na Pele has exciting new elements. “There’s a steep learning curve for everyone involved in the project. After all the experience that we’ve had, we now feel ready to embrace other industries with the objective of making products available in the market,” explains curator Rafael Andrade.
This time, two major footwear brands and three well known furniture companies will receive special consultancies from a team of Brazilian designers in order to create a collection of new products. Unique and exclusive leathers are the key elements for these articles.

From its fi rst edition, Design na Pele has united art, leather and fashion, bringing together similar, but sometimes distant industries, to create products that become true objects of desire around the world, exhibited at famous trade shows, especially in the leather segment. Now, with the arrival of Design na Pele in the commercial world, this situation has changed: the objects of desire can be taken home.
This cycle of collaboration between several industries now comes full circle. Amongst all of them, the tanneries, using the knowledge acquired from the past editions of Design na Pele, apply design thinking in every detail, to each unique design and in each unique partnership. This new way of looking at surfaces and fi nished products communicates style, taste and also sustainability.
