There are exciting opportunities within the Haematology & Clinical Biochemistry departments at both Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells for Specialist Biomedical Scientists. The Blood Sciences department is based on both sites and offers a broad range of experiences via internal rotation throughout all sections cross-site. The successful applicants will be required to work at either one or both sites, as demanded by service needs. The department is ISO 15189, MHRA, CQC and IBMS accredited. You can develop your skills and
Roche (chemistry + immunoassay), Sebia (electrophoresis), Dynex Technologies DS2 (ELISA), Menarini (HPLC) and Primus (HPLC) analysers. *On attaining appropriate competencies, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in the Out of Hours sessions, which will include some weekend, evening and overnight duties and will then receive the Recruitment & Retention premium in addition to normal AfC unsocial hours payments.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist
(Haematology/Transfusion) Band 6: £26,565 - £35,577 per annum
Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology/Transfusion. We are seeking an individual with an experienced background in providing a diagnostic clinical Haematology/Transfusion service. Applicants must be registered with HCPC and have a Specialist Portfolio (or equivalent) in Haematology or Transfusion. Applicants currently studying for their Specialist Portfolio will be considered.

Manager (South Glasgow) Band 8A: £40,428- £48,514
A vacancy has arisen for a post of Sector Quality / Training / Health & Safety Manager within the Biochemistry/Immunology/Neuroimmunology Departments in South Glasgow. Biochemistry is one of the largest and busiest departments in the UK. You will be directly responsible for the day to day management aspects of the laboratories Quality Management systems. The post also has a lead role in the management of training and Health & Safety within the Departments.
The laboratory building on the South Glasgow hospitals campus is uniquely equipped with a large combined Abbott Flexlab track. This track includes Biochemistry, Haematology and Immunology analysers. There are also a number of specialist services provided by the Departments
The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Hospital for Children opened in 2015. The new hospital has been directly funded by the Scottish Government at a cost of approximately 800million with approximately £80 million of this total being used to build the Laboratory Medicine & FM Building in which the laboratories are situated.
It is essential you have an MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent and a quality management/training qualifi cation or demonstrable equivalent knowledge. You must have current HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist.
