Associate Service Manager; Scottish Bowel Screening Laboratory – Band 8a £40,428- £48,514 per annum 37.5 hours per week


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HCPC registered Healthcare scientist to lead a dedicated team in delivering all laboratory aspects of the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme. The Programme invites eligible men and women in Scotland between 50 -74 years to participate in a bi annual, two tier (FOBT/FIT), refl ex bowel screening algorithm.


We are looking for a member of staff that can demonstrate team spirit, initiative, leadership and fl exibility. You will be managing a modern and busy state of the art Bowel Screening laboratory which receives bowel screening kits from across Scotland with both manual processes (FOBT and FIT testing) and play an integral role in the introduction of semi-automated processing using quantitative FIT to the Scottish Bowel Screening programme. You will work with a considerable degree of autonomy and have the responsibility for providing professional, scientifi c and technical leadership. The postholder will be expected to work closely with other Associate Service Managers and Clinical Leads in Blood Sciences and carry out additional duties as required.


You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and must possess an M.Sc/FIBMS and either the Specialist portfolio,


or previous laboratory experience and currently be working as a BMS Band 7 [Senior BMS] in laboratory services
