BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST HCS8/9 Andrology Service, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital Healthcare Scientist
Professional Manager Band 8b £47,092 - £58,217 per annum Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Applications are invited from suitably qualified reproductive scientists for the post of Manager of the busy Andrology Service supporting the needs of patients in the North of Scotland. The services provided include diagnostic semen analysis, sperm preparation for intra-uterine insemination, surgical sperm retrieval, sperm cryostorage, fertility preservation and sperm donation.
Andrology, which has recently achieved ISO15189 accreditation, operates as an integral part of the Aberdeen Centre for Reproductive Medicine. The successful applicant will work closely with the embryology, medical and nursing teams to provide treatment plans tailored to patient needs. Patient pathways are in place with NHS Grampian, Highland, Orkney and Shetland for fertility preservation. The sperm donation service includes recruitment, screening, storage and clearance.

Technical Manager – Healthcare Science AFC Band 7 £31,696 - £41,787 37.5 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualifi ed and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist for the posts of Technical Manager – Healthcare Science within the Microbiology Departments at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Glasgow Royal Infi rmary and a third post within the West of Scotland Specialist Virology Centre based at Glasgow Royal Infi rmary.
The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Glasgow Royal Infi rmary departments provide a comprehensive clinical diagnostic service to Hospital and to General Practice users, processing approximately 630,000 requests per annum. The West of Scotland Specialist Virology Centre provides a full and comprehensive clinical virology service to Glasgow and other health boards in the West of Scotland, processing approximately 400,000 requests per annum.
The post holder will be in technical charge of a sub-division of the department and will perform as lead specialist in designated areas of responsibility. The post holder will provide direction to staff in their sub division and provide highly specialist advice to service users (clinicians, GPs, nurses etc.), colleagues and senior staff such as department consultants and laboratory managers.
