IN A CITY as sweltering as ours, it’s no wonder we take our ice cream seriously. But Austin’s best ice cream shops aren’t as basic as Ben & Jerry’s (not that we’re hating). Our gelato makers are trained at legit gelato universities, flavors are as wild as pink peppercorn, and we have a boozy ice cream parlor that makes us wonder how we could ever live without a sangria shake. Plain vanilla ice cream? Not here.

Owner Laura Aidan attended ice cream courses at Pennsylvania State University and Valrhona’s chocolate program in NYC and worked under a French pastry chef to master the art of infusing ice cream with spirits. Boozy creations include ice cream in flavors like Patrón dark-chocolate sorbet and mescal vanilla, sangria shakes, milk-stout floats and triple-bourbon milk shakes. And while the cocktail menu appears to be its own entity, each drink is crafted to pair with one (or more) of the ice cream flavors. Just ask your bartender for recommendations.
