Blown film lines dominate the skyline of all major plastics

shows – and will feature heavily at K2016. Lou Reade reports

K2016: latest

A key feature of every plastics show – especially K – is the sheer size of some of the exhibits. And the largest of these are the blown film lines that dominate the skyline in the machinery halls. It is no surprise, then, that advanced blown film lines are an important part of the latest show.

Rajoo Engineers says that its Pentafoil all-PE

five-layer co-extruded blown film line helps raise the performance bar of films with a high efficiency ratio – with benefits including downgauging, lower cost of the final film and adaptability across applications. It says it will be the only Asian company with a live

demonstration of such a line – which can be used in applications including collation shrink films, lamination films, and milk and water pouches. The line incorpo- rates advances such as Cylindrical Spiral Die (CSD), Internal Bubble Cooling and Circumferential Profile Control with elevated air ring and triple lip. This five-layer line ensures a thin skin layer and a

thick core layer of less expensive materials. The line operates at 600kg/hour, and is highly energy efficient – consuming 0.3001kWh for each kilogramme of blown film (40 microns thick, 2,000mm wide). The line includes four 60mm extruders, one 90mm

extruder and a 500mm CSD die. With a maximum output of 650 kg/hour, the line can produce all-PE film

in the thickness range of 30-250 microns. “This line is truly eco-friendly in a dual way: one from

the environmental perspective – by getting more out of less, through downgauging and lower energy consump- tion; the other from an economic perspective – delivering better performance with cheaper raw materials,” said Khushboo Doshi, executive director at Rajoo.

Five-layer quality Italy’s Bandera will showcase its TechnoFlex Plus five-layer blown film line at K2016. The line is suitable for producing both polyolefin and barrier film, and is equipped with an innovative device – designed by Bandera engineers – to enhance film quality. The TechnoFlex Plus line shown at K will produce LDPE films, blended with LLDPE, mLLDPE, EVA, HDPE and MDPE, EVOH and PA. Thickness range for the film is 20 to 200 microns. Line output is 700kg/h for PE film, 500kg/h for barrier film. The line features two 75mm extruders for intermedi-

ate layers, and three 65mm extruders – two for side layers and one for the core. There is a five-layer die head, with 500mm diameter installed die and internal bubble cooling (IBC). Material is delivered accurately thanks to a 25-com-
