news Chinaplas 2018 set to relocate
Chinaplas exhibition organiser Adsale has confirmed that the 2018 event is to relocate to the new National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai’s Hongqiao District. The move was not unex-
pected as ongoing growth meant the 2016 event was pushing the limits of the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre in the Pudon district; more than 16% of the total exhibition space at last year’s exhibition had to be housed in temporary struc- tures. “We really ran out of space in Shanghai New International Exhbition Centre,” said Adsale
General Manager Ada Leung. “Evaluation and analysis on moving to NECC began in early 2016 and, considering the long term development of the show,
we made the decision to move in the fourth quarter.” Opened in 2015, the NECC of indoor and

tion space; Adsale said its target for Chinaplas 2018 is around 300,000m2
. To ensure a
smooth transition of the event, Leung said it had arranged extended move-in and move-out periods for the first NECC event. Chinaplas takes place every
year, alternating between Guangzhou and Shanghai. The next event takes place on 16-19 May of this year at the China Import & Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou and is expected to extend to 250,000m2
with 3,300 exhibi- Shanghai's NECC complex
