letter from the editor Compounding World goes live Dear Reader

After all the excitement of last month’s K 2013 show, we are now preparing for the thrill of Compounding World magazine’s fi rst conference, which is less than three weeks away. Organised with our AMI colleagues, the Compounding World Forum 2013 takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, on 10-11 December. We are pleased to say that it is shaping up to be a very

successful conference and a vital new meeting place for the compounding industry. The two-day event will feature an impressive selection of 21

expert presentations hand-picked by Compounding World’s editorial team. They will cover key strategic issues and technology developments to help give you a competitive edge in this fast evolving global market. The papers address many of the hottest topics and most popular themes from our magazine, including: global market trends; clean compounding for medical applications; metal replacement; conductive compounds; anti- counterfeiting technologies; antimicrobials; fl ame retardants; improving sustainability; advanced reinforcements and fi llers; plus getting the most from twin-screw extruders. You can read the two-part preview of the presentations in our August and September editions here: http://bit.ly/CWFday1 and http://bit.ly/CWFday2. One signifi cant update to the programme is that the presentation on “Responding to changing regulations in

America and beyond” will now be given by Jeff Keithline, a partner at leading scientifi c law fi rm Keller and Heckman. For the full up-to-date programme, visit:

In between the conference sessions, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking in the exhibition area, which will feature more than 30 exhibitors. This will be one of the biggest gatherings of compounding industry suppliers in the US before the next NPE in 2015! The exhibitors will include manufacturers of the

full range of compounding equipment, suppliers of a very wide variety of additives, plus several leading compounders. We have a detailed exhibition preview

featuring the participating companies on page 67 of this issue. We hope that you will be able to join us in Philadelphia. It’s not too late to sign up and details can be found at http://bit.ly/CWF2013p.
