additives feature | Impact modifiers

RTP’s expanded range consists of 15 injection moulding grades including FDA-compliant formulations available in translucent or opaque versions. This broad product line can be fine-tuned to meet specific custom applications, with impact modified extrusion grades also available. The new grades boast notched Izod impact

strength 30 times that of unmodified PLA and comparable to PC/ABS. Their HDT that is 1.5 times that of unmodified PLA and comparable to HIPS and acrylic. Moreover, they are said to offer an excellent balance of strength and stiffness. Their special nucleation packages speed crystallization which increases temperature performance and allows quick part ejection, thus improving cycle time versus unmodified PLA. The new compounds are colourable and have

bio-content ranging as high as 95% depending on loading levels of impact modifiers and minerals. They are said to be cost-effective versus many traditional thermoplastic compounds and they require no special tooling. Key applications include injection moulded covers, housings and

structural components for appliances, consumer electronics, furniture, lawn/garden, medical devices, office equipment, sporting goods, tools and toys.
