news coperion buys into pell-Tec


coperion has acquired a majority stake in pell-Tec, the strand pelletizer manufacturer based in niedernberg, germany. The deal was completed on 1 January. pell-Tec was established


over 10 years ago and produces strand pelletizing systems with capacities up to 6,000 kg/h. coperion says that the acquisition strengthens its position as a systems supplier, enabling it offer tailor-made pelletizing solutions for small- and medium-sized extruders. Thomas Kehl, a member of


coperion’s executive board, said: “in the future, we shall work together with pell-Tec on the further development of the existing range of strand


pelletizing systems, our main objective being to extend the size range across all output requirements.” pell-Tec’s joint managing


director, Bernhard Stern added: “with coperion’s support we shall not only be

Sumitomo links with nabaltec


Sumitomo chemical of Japan and nabaltec of germany are collaborating on their alumina and aluminium trihydroxide (ATH) businesses. initially, nabaltec is


supplying an exclusive grade of fine precipitated ATH to Sumitomo for sale in East Asia. The companies plan to explore


additional areas of collabora- tion, including possible joint developments of new advanced inorganic materials. ATH is most widely used as


a flame retardant in polymers and is expected to see growing demand as the demand for non-halogen additives increases. Sumitomo has


expanded its production capacity for ATH in recent years. However, with demand growing rapidly, it has decided to enhance its resources by securing additional supplies of fine precipitated ATH from nabaltec. ❙ www.sumitomo-chem.co.jpwww.nabaltec.de

mussolente plant include an integrated system for automated packaging and palleting. There has also been a complete overhaul of the sample and master- batch production depart- ments to optimise produc- tion efficiency. construction work on

Sabic opens ETp pilot facility


Sabic innovative plastics has official opened a new pilot facility for developing high performance polymers at its mount Vernon site in indiana, uSA. it will be used to create new grades of ultem polyetherimide (pEi), Extem thermo- plastic polyimide (Tpi) and Siltem amorphous resins which combine the high heat resistance of pEi with the flexibility of silicone elastomers.

be used to speed up the development of new polymers, particularly custom formulations.
