“Some people say I’m too young for such a large farm of my own. I’m in my mid-twen- ties, so what’s the big deal? I come from a mushroom-grow- ing family, and you know what they say about real talent breaking though fast. In 2000, my mother started a small farm of just five growing rooms in Losice. That site now houses 10 growing rooms with a total growing surface area of 2680

square metres. There is abso- lutely no space to expand any further, there’s not even room for a filling machine, so we have to fill the blocks by hand. That didn’t really fit in with my future plans, so I started to build a new farm here from 2011 onwards. I do have a filling machine here, constructed by the way by a local smith. The costs were less than half for a branded machine, and I intend to keep using it for the time


being – the investments are high enough as it is. We fill compost that is sourced from four different suppliers. I don’t like to put all my eggs in one basket. I have enough space here to expand in the future. In fact, my brother is shortly going to start building his own mushroom farm just 200 metres away. As I said, mush- room growing is in our blood. My other passion is classic American cars. My car is always
