EDITOR’S NOTE EDITOR’S NOTE Welcome to the Tomorrow’s FM 2015/2016 Yearbook.
On arrival at the Tomorrow’s FM office at the end of last year, I felt I knew a lot about the industry; it’s one of the reasons I applied for this position. However, it’s fair to say as the months have passed I have been proven wrong. The reach of the FM industry is far vaster than I, or most people would ever imagine – I didn’t think I would ever know so many acronyms!
Even after six months, friends and family still congratulate me on my new role and continue to ask me to summarise the subject matter, of what they consider to be a ‘niche’ publication. They don’t seem to realise that, if I were able to summarise the topic I wouldn’t be able to fill my magazine on a monthly basis (and our readership wouldn’t be in as many thousands).
As it happens the adverse is true. Each month I receive so much copy that I struggle to fit it all in and that is one of the greatest benchmarks to measure the success of our industry; as long as you have something to shout about I can see that it is thriving, and that is why we create these Yearbooks. Whilst I am inundated with editorial to work with it is evident that FM is evolving, the sheer amount of success stories, awards, new products, M&A activity, promotions and tales of new recruits that we receive on a daily basis, are testament to that.
It would be wrong of me to use this note to try and draw conclusions from the last year in the world of facilities, given that I’ve only been a part of it for such a short time, but I hope that this guide will go some way to exhibit the continued success of this industry. With information on events, an alphabetised directory of products and services, and a smattering of editorial, the Tomorrow’s FM Yearbook 2015/2016 should provide useful contacts and information to aid with the continuous growth of companies and individuals working within this expansive business.
Here’s to more of the same next year – see you all soon, and in the mean time, enjoy!
