EASILUME BRIGHTENS UP BALFOUR BEATTY’S
GUIDE SHOWS PLANNING
AHEAD IS KEY Companies seeking a temporary space solution are being reminded of the need to plan ahead.
Securing local authority approval for all types of development can be a complex and time-consuming procedure. But temporary building experts Spaciotempo have produced a guide which aims to demystify the planning application process.
The document, entitled ‘Planning Ahead to Boost Your Business’ is available for free to download, it reveals what steps are involved and covers issues such as timescales, cost and rules on Permitted Development.
Designer and manufacturer of temporary structures, Spaciotempo are well placed to help decision- makers get the complete picture on the subject of planning permission. The guide also includes details on how the Staffordshire-based company can support customers by taking the lead role.
Scott Jameson, managing director of Spaciotempo, said: “Most development in England and Wales requires

planning permission and that applies to temporary buildings too.
“The prospect of negotiating what can be a complex process might at first appear daunting, but this new guide will help people see what’s involved and details a number of factors which must be considered. It also reveals how we can provide specialist help and guidance as part of our comprehensive approach to customer service.”
Spaciotempo’s temporary buildings can provide a flexible solution which enables companies to expand and manage variances in their business with minimal disruption. The company has more than 40 years’ experience of providing ‘space on demand’ for the commercial and industrial sectors, working in environments such as warehousing and storage, production, logistics and transport, retail, chilled and ambient storage.
By providing a complete service, from initial enquiry through to after- sales and maintenance, Spaciotempo offers a single-source solution which ensures a consistent approach.
Mr Jameson added: “Temporary buildings can play a key role for businesses and we can guide customers every step of the way. Applying for planning permission is just the first part of that process and we do our very best to ensure applications get a green light from the authorities.

WAREHOUSE In September Balfour Beatty completed the Fit-out of its 1800 square metre warehouse and attached office, in Derby. EasiLume provided the LED lighting design and products for the project.
EasiLume’s High Bay LED lighting was used for the bulk of the warehouse lighting, along with a series of LED strip lights. The strip lights were used to compliment the LED high bay lighting in the main warehouse, and provide full coverage in the lower ceiling areas. For the office, EasiLume’s LED panels were used, a like-for-like replacement of the previous fixtures.
The warehouse and office now look bright and modern, and they’ve been given a new lease of life by the refurbishment. EasiLume Sales Manager Stuart Dixon explained: “Before the refurb the warehouse was gloomy and dull, making the relatively small change of upgrading to LED lighting has made a huge difference. It now looks clean, bright and modern.
“But not only does the lighting look great, it also saves money on energy and maintenance bills. EasiLume’s LEDs are more energy efficient than their halogen and fluorescent equivalents, and can save up to 60% on electricity bills throughout their 60,000 hour lifetime. This makes the investment in LEDs a great strategic choice by Balfour Beatty.”
