WHAT’S NEW? TCFM SECURE MULTI-
SERVICE CONTRACT TC Facilities Management (TCFM) has been awarded of a multi-service contract at RS Components Ltd, the world's leading distributor of electronics, automation and control components, tools and consumables.
The contract will see over 50 staff from TCFM deployed to provide Cleaning, Security, Catering, Grounds Maintenance and Specialist Cleaning at 16 sites: 2 DCs in Corby and Nuneaton and 14 Trade Counters across the country
The contract commenced on 1st November and is being led by Steve Wengrow, Divisional Director, TCFM, who is working alongside the team from RS Components Ltd to deliver a seamless transition.

But as retailers look to keep their stores in tip-top condition, there’s an opportunity to exploit data even further. The information gathered via a network of CCTV cameras can provide an invaluable insight into the behavioural habits of a retailer’s customer base.
It can be used to map hot spots across stores, identifying the most popular aisles at particular points in the day. Not only can this be used to inform product placement within a store, enabling retailers to place promotional offers in high footfall areas, it can also be used to strategically inform the shelf rental price – allowing FM teams to offer more strategic value, outside of their usual remit.
The insight this data can be extremely useful, yet it does not require a major cost outlay. With the CCTV infrastructure already in place across a retailer’s estate, all that is required to capitalise on the information these cameras can capture is the software that brings it all together.
This is just one example of how data can enhance a retailer’s bottom line, but the opportunities are

endless. Many retailers in the US are already experimenting with beacon technology, Bluetooth-enabled sensors that can be placed on key assets within a building, from a till to a changing room. They can even be used to track the movement of people in a set location.
In a retail environment, beacons enable businesses to interact with customers in a more personalised way. For example, when a customer comes within range of a beacon assigned to a particular line of clothing, they could receive a notification on their mobile that provides more detailed product information, such as size availability.
From an FM perspective, the same beacons can be used within head office environments to track movement of employees, offering a powerful new way to manage workplace utilisation in real time.
By using this single technology, in these very diverse ways, a retailer can begin to generate valuable data and insight across multiple areas within their business, through one deployment.
