FM PROFESSIONALS RECOGNISED FOR
INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE Facilities Management (FM) professionals from across Ireland and beyond gathered on 25th November at Croke Park for the annual BIFM Ireland Awards.
Sponsored by TechSkills Resources, the industry awards were presented to Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year David Gormalley, MFK Property Services Ltd. and Ireland Region Young FM Professional of the Year Bernie McManamon from Sodexo. Long-standing BIFM Ireland member, Stephen Welch, NI Assembly was also recognised to celebrate his contribution to the FM industry throughout his career.
Selected by a panel of expert judges that included; Avril Behan, Assistant Head at the School of Multidisciplinary Technologies at the College of Engineering & Built Environment of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Trevor Smyth, Facilities Site Lead, Google Ireland and Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year at the BIFM Ireland Awards 2015, and Linda Hausmanis, Acting CEO of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM).
This year’s shortlist spanned a range of sectors from private to public and recognised individuals who have demonstrated excellent standards in their work and professional development. After tight deliberations, David Gormalley was awarded Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year based on the strides he has made in FM during his service to the Guinness Storehouse's 1.5 million annual visitors. Meanwhile Ireland Region Young FM Professional of the Year, Bernie McManamon from was acknowledged for her rise through the ranks at Sodexo by applying her engineering academic background and consistent CPD.

MITIE WIN THREE-YEAR
EXTENSION Mitie has been awarded a three- year extension to its current integrated facilities management (FM) contract with Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) at their office in London.
AGCS is a financial services company, providing a comprehensive range of corporate and specialty insurance services to a global network that spans across more than 160 countries.
Mitie has been providing a number of services for AGCS since 2010, including mechanical and electrical maintenance, cleaning, security, pest control, waste management and mailroom. The new contract will see Mitie deliver additional intelligent building and energy
for promoting local industry talent and increasing the credibility of each entrant. By submitting an entry, each FM has testified to their commitment to their career progression and furthering of the industry as a whole.”
Winners of this year’s BIFM Ireland Awards were provided with €500 to claim towards their professional development courtesy of TechSkills Resources.

Hosted by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, the FM Summit served as a platform for business and facilities management professionals to exchange knowledge, information and ideas on the many facets of one of Ireland’s fastest growing professions. The summit’s theme ‘Workplace partnerships – Rethinking FM’ allowed the core speakers and local experts to give their take on driving businesses forward and delivering exceptional FM during a year that has seen especially turbulent business and political shifts.
