A MOVING STORY WITH

A HAPPY FUTURE Almost 150 years ago, Joseph Stannah set up his own

lift company in London; two world wars and numerous recessions later, and with Brexit looming, this British independent family company continues to thrive.

Through several generations, Stannah has grown to encompass the supply and installation of passenger, platform and goods lifts, escalators and moving walkways, domestic stair and home lifts and a UK-wide network of service branches looking after over 90,000 lift products.

“STANNAH HAS RECENTLY BEEN

NAMED ‘SPECIALIST

CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR’ AT THE BUILDER & ENGINEER AWARDS”

The company’s capability within the lift industry is growing year-on-year as more facilities professionals depend on Stannah engineers’ reliability and expertise across all market areas. Wherever you are in the UK, Stannah can maintain your lift product portfolio and all types of loading bay equipment too. The company’s national network of eleven service branches means they deliver local lift, escalator and loading bay planned maintenance and emergency repair, 365 days-a- year, 24 hours-a-day. This service includes maintenance of all types of lift products from all manufacturers, not just Stannah products.

The company manages a complete variety of products; from single lifts for single users right through to vast commercial portfolios and everything in between. A single customer receives the same Stannah promise

as a multi-national retail, a promise to be ‘always true to our word’. The Stannah way is to always go that extra mile to ensure they are helping their customers to reduce down- time of lifts and related equipment. An example of this is a leading university’s maintenance contract for a portfolio of more than 100 lifts. To keep the flow of people and goods across the huge campus a Stannah engineer has a permanent office on the site, thereby reducing costs for the university and resolving problems on the spot.

You may be surprised how often you come across a Stannah badged lift or a lift product that Stannah maintain for other manufacturers - their products are everywhere.

For example, Stannah Lift Services look after all the UK’s Network Rail lifts and is integral in the rail operator’s scheme to provide ‘step- free access’ across the rail network. This often calls for refurbishment of existing equipment and the addition of new products to improve journeys for all rail users. The maintenance portfolio currently has over 1,160 lifts across Scotland, England and Wales.

Still in rail, the company has the maintenance contract for lift maintenance across London’s Docklands Light Railway. This involves working on equipment at night, minimising risk and keeping the network fully operational.

You will travel on Stannah escalators in some railway stations, shopping centres, retail outlets and

supermarkets, and travel with a shopping trolley being provided by Stannah moving walkways in most major supermarkets. Escalators and moving walkways maintenance is crucial to meet customer service standards.

Passenger and platform lifts are maintained in housing developments, commercial offices, civic buildings, leisure facilities, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, health centres
