AWARDS 2015 TOMORROW’S FLOORING
KÄHRS OAK ARCTIC KÄHRS
Reflecting the interior trend for white-look wood floors, Kährs Oak Arctic combines natural style with a host of eco and performance benefits. The elegant floor has a single plank design, enhanced by a bevelled edge, a tactile brushed surface and a white matt lacquer prefinish. It is crafted from sustainable, even grained European oak and features Kährs ECO Core - a middle layer of post-industrial recycled material, which forms part of Kährs award-winning multi- layered construction. It is also offered with a 20-year guarantee.
Designed for domestic and contract installation, Kährs Oak Arctic can be laid floating on any dry, level and solid surface, such as concrete, chipboard or wood. Individual boards align and lock together, using Kährs’ glueless Woodloc joint. The joint, combined with Kährs’ construction, creates an exceptionally stable surface that’s suitable for installation over electric matt and capillary underfloor heating systems.
Kährs Oak Arctic recently won the House Beautiful Award for Best Flooring and is one of five floors from the Unity Collection; other designs include light-toned Oak Sand, mid honey-toned Oak Park, grey-toned Oak Cliff and Walnut Orchard.
KERACOLOR FLEX MAPEI
Mapei has introduced a new flexible, water-repellent grout to its cementitious range. New Keracolor Flex is a low VOC product available in five natural contemporary shades and suitable for grout joint widths from 1-6mm. It can be used with a wide range of surface finishes, including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, glass and mosaics – both internally and externally.
Following extensive research, Keracolor Flex colour options have been created to complement current tile trends; they include limestone, oyster, pearl, pebble and white sand. Product features include resistance to water and thermal change, making Keracolor Flex ideal for use in wet areas, alongside underfloor heating and on external facades exposed to freeze/thaw cycles. Once cured, the new grout provides a gently textured surface, which is also resistant to abrasion, oils and alkaline-based cleaning products.
Keracolor Flex is certified GEV Emicode EC1R Plus for very low emissions of volatile organic compounds. It is available in 5kg AluPak bags – in single units or boxes of four – and can be mixed with Mapei Fugolastic for application in more demanding environments.
