surfaces they work on, and the surrounding environment. Each job is assessed on an individual basis and the best method is chosen, depending on the type of stone, the nature of the surroundings and environment, and the degree of soiling. P Mac provides a 7-day emergency service to Dublin City Council to remove any racist or offensive tagging.
Some soiling will require a gentle approach and several visits may be required to fully remove all traces, known as ghosting. On painted surfaces P Mac employ colour matching paint systems for spot painting, ensuring all traces of the tagging are removed as if they never occurred.
The future maintenance and protection of the treated surfaces are also a serious consideration when working with stone. P Mac may advise on the use of sacrificial or non-sacrificial coatings, designed to weather and protect stone, therefore halting decay and prolonging the life of the facade. Coatings will also enable graffiti to be washed off quickly with water, without the use of chemicals. P Mac would advise applying an anti-graffiti coating to areas that are a regular

target for graffiti or to stone that will deteriorate with the constant use of chemicals to remove paint.
To further facilitate the rapid removal of graffiti, P Mac introduced to their clients a mobile workforce management system, Geopal, which enables users to input removal requests when out and about, track progress and get instant information and images of completed jobs. Users of the system will also have a history of work carried out enabling them to highlight black spots.

take a lot longer to work in very cold conditions as they cannot penetrate the surface. Also, for health and safety reasons, they do not work with water in freezing conditions because of the danger to employees and passersby.
But rest assured, now that temperatures are returning to normal P Mac are back out on the streets and are delighted to assist in all the improvements being made in Dublin’s city centre and her environs.
