WASHROOM HYGIENE

A Pristine Transformation

Pristine Cleaning NI officially became Pristine Cleaning and Hygiene Solutions in the second half of 2014. The new venture came about after we were awarded a new office cleaning contract and in addition to the provision of cleaning services our new client also wanted us to provide all the consumables for their busy Belfast office, which would in effect leave them more time to spend running their business and have a ‘one stop shop’ supplier.

As fate would have it, some might say – one of our biggest contract customers contacted us on the very same afternoon to talk about the ‘price of hand soap and toilet rolls’. They were reviewing their outgoings and were keen to save money on their consumables bills. They were ordering disposable soap bottles and were shocked at exactly how much this was costing them. This particular client would always come to us for help with any additional jobs they needed doing, or indeed advice about the facilities management of their large Belfast city centre office, so they knew we would help in whatever way possible.

With a list of products to source and price from these two clients I set about conducting my research in a field that up until now I knew very little about. Washroom management and hygiene services was something that had never really crossed our paths, and here in the very same day two customers approached us to see if we could help with supplying with these services, so that was a sign we couldn’t ignore.

My extensive research involved endless hours of reading, making telephone calls and sending emails about all the available products and services. I set up a lot of meetings with suppliers right across Northern Ireland and gained a lot of valuable information and advice from these seasoned Hygiene experts.

At this very early stage of our new venture it almost felt like I was setting up a brand new company all over again. It was extremely exciting and our staff were equally as excited as we knew it would give them more responsibility when operating in our clients’ premises.

We compiled a range of paper products that we were happy with – toilet tissue, hand towels, centrefeeds, industrial rolls, hygiene rolls and continuous roll towels. Next came the need for hand care lotions. Although we could have just bought in hand soaps one of the main goals of developing this new side to the business was to offer cost

At the back end of 2014, Belfast-based Pristine Cleaning NI made the decision to expand their business into the provision of cleaning products, as well as services. Now, Donna Monteith, Director at Pristine, tells all about how they made the transformation into Pristine Cleaning and Hygiene Solutions.

effective options to our clients, so we set about to investigate having our own range of solutions produced. We set up a deal with a local company to help us produce our ‘Pristine’ brand of cleaning and hygiene solutions. We went the extra mile in this department and our customers can now choose from Coconut and Citrus soap alongside the usual Pink Pearl.

In terms of dispensers, we needed something very durable whilst being professional, our customers aren’t just offices but also include bars, nightclubs and factories. This led us to teaming with ‘Brightwell’ via a local distributor, and the versatility of their range allowed us to colour coordinate the dispensers in line with the ‘Pristine’ brand.
