ON YER BIKE!
Quick-Step’s vinyl flooring was put to the ultimate test when it was used to build a warm-up stage for professional cyclists.
Ahead of this year’s Giro d’Italia, Quick- Step built a special warm-up stage for the Etixx – Quick-Step professional cycling team to demonstrate the style and durability of its new vinyl collection.
“I was genuinely
surprised to hear that the floor was vinyl as it really looked and felt like a true hardwood floor.”
The manufacturer of engineered hardwood, laminate and luxury vinyl design flooring built the stage to put its claims of quality concerning the Livyn Pulse collection to the test, demonstrating the floor’s strength and durability when placed in intensive spaces.
Three Quick-Step Master Installers were used to lay the flooring at the Velodrome Omnisport, using the design of choice, ‘Sea Breeze Oak Natural’, from the new Livyn Pulse vinyl collection. As expected, the floor was put under extreme pressure as cyclists came and went and bicycles were serviced.

The goal was both to provide a stylish start for the cyclists and to prove the quality of Livyn Pulse along the way; the floor’s accentuated knots and cracks surprising the riders as they believed they were warming up on genuine wood.
Marcel Kittel, Etixx – Quick-Step cyclist, said: “I was genuinely surprised to hear that the floor was vinyl as it really looked and felt like a true hardwood floor.
“There was great variation across the planks, and the shading and tones were particularly natural.”
Even when subjected to heavy use by the Etixx – Quick-Step pro cycling team, the Quick-Step floor lived up to its reputation: stylish and resistant to scratches, stains and water. From servicing the bicycles to withstanding the spiked cleats on the cycling shoes, the floor stayed in perfect condition thanks to the top coating that provides a protective seal layer equipped with Stain and Scratch Guard technology.
Marcel continued: “I was really concerned about damaging this beautiful surface with the sharp cleats of the shoes but, to my surprise, it looked as good as new after the warm-up session.
“Even when my mechanic dropped his screwdriver, the stage floor stayed blemish-free.”
The Stain Guard technology gives stains no chance; even if left on the floor for a while, the stain is still easy to remove. Marcel’s next act was to sign the floor with a marker pen, before wiping clean without a trace, demonstrating Livyn Pulse’s superb resistance to staining.
“If I had to pick the ideal floor for a workout room, I’d
pick from the Livyn Pulse collection.”
The melting ice water and puddles of sweat produced by the cyclists also proved to be harmless, as this flooring is also water-resistant.
“If I had to pick the ideal floor for a workout room, I’d pick from the Livyn Pulse collection.
“These floors deliver all the practical benefits required and, to top it off, they look fantastic,” continued Marcel.
