THE CLEANING SHOW REVIEW


World Record Attempt One of the highlights of the Cleaning Show schedule in the build up to the event was the Window Cleaning Challenge, hosted by Unger and Principle Window Cleaning, in which Terry ‘Turbo’ Burrows, the world’s fastest window cleaner, laid down the gauntlet for anyone to take him on and try to claim his crown. With Guinness World Record adjudicators in tow, and the chance to win a cash prize of £1,000 if they beat his record for cleaning three regulation-size windows, cleaners from as far afield as Sweden, Italy and Germany came out to try and knock Burrows off his mantle.


After a few practice runs, and only a couple of witty cries of “you missed a bit”, the competition got in full flow,


Celebrating Innovation In the build up to the show, organisers were on the hunt for the most innovative new products and services to be considered for the Cleaning Show Innovation Awards, and exhibitors were able to enter their products for consideration. After more than 80 entries were submitted online across a range of categories, the Judging Panel had some work to do before the awards presentation at the end of the show’s opening day.

Following the award, Chairman of the judging panel and editor of C&M Magazine, Neil Nixon, said: “The Innovation Awards continue to grow in stature at every show and this year is no exception. We have been staggered with the amount of high standard entries from exhibitors that took part. Competition has been fierce and we’ve had some well deserving winners.”

34 Years And Counting It wasn’t just the Innovation Awards that were cause to celebrate as, during the show, Tomorrow’s Cleaning managed to tag along as Karcher presented their Dealer of the Year Award.


It’s no real surprise that the award went to Karcher Centre Trafalgar, who has managed to claim this prize for the 34th year in a row.


And Trafalgar Managing Director, Martin Bremner, was delighted to once again win the award. He said: “As always it is an honour to receive the Dealer of the Year Award from Karcher. To receive this Award is a reflection on the hard work by everyone in the Company who has made the Centre run smoothly throughout the year.”

pulling in a large crowd of spectators in the process. But those wanting to see a new world record will have left feeling disappointed, as nobody managed to beat Terry’s record of nine seconds, although some came close.


Terry then gave it a go himself, and while his attempt clocked in at 8.91 seconds – which would have been a new world record – the inevitable time penalties for missing bits meant that it didn’t quite beat his previous time.
