that the time is right for it to make a comeback. He said: “The Irish economy, like the rest of Europe, has taken a bit of a battering over the last five years. The feeling we get from our clients within the pages of our Tomorrows Cleaning Ireland publication, who are operating at the business end of this industry, they are confident that there is now a real sense of growth and confidence going forward for cleaning in Ireland.

Through the partnership, SKÅL and Diversey Care will engage in joint activities to promote sustainability, including more widely implementing their Soap for Hope programme. Soap for Hope aims to save lives, provide livelihoods and prevent waste by collecting used soap bars from hotels. The soap is then re-processed and made into new soap bars, which are either used by local communities to increase hygiene and health or sold to provide an income.

Soap for Hope was most recently launched in Latin America during SKÅL’s 75th World Congress in Mexico City. At the annual World Congress, Diversey Care and SKÅL hosted an awards programme honouring hoteliers across various categories of sustainability. The 76th World Congress will take place in Mombasa, Kenya in October 2015, and Diversey Care and SKÅL will once again recognise hoteliers for their sustainability initiatives.

“This partnership, with a joint and inspiring ambition, can make a huge difference to local communities around the world,” said V. Salih CENE, President of SKÅL International. “We look forward to continued collaboration with Diversey Care to help hoteliers protect our planet and the people who are employed by, visit and live near hotels.”
