“Our new Volvo EC220E is totally suited to our application…”
So says John Turner, M & J Evans Construction Ltd’s Plant Manager as the company takes delivery of a brand new twenty-two tonne Volvo EC220E crawler excavator into its plant fleet.
The new Tier IV compliant EC220E is a new addition to a fleet of over 100 excavators and other construction equipment ranging from dump trucks, site dumpers, rollers and other associated equipment which is operated by one of the West Midland’s largest independent civil engineering and construction companies located close to Walsall. This isn’t the first Volvo to join the M & J Evans fleet however as a slightly larger EC250D was purchased just three years ago. “Taking the twenty five tonne Volvo on board was a toe in
the water for us but we were pleasantly surprised with the power, performance and lifting capacity of the machine,” explains John Turner. “We had a good opportunity to appraise the Volvo EC220E at last year’s Plantworx exhibition and were extremely impressed with the overall quality of the machine, the operator’s compartment and service access. Taking the machine on a two-week trial and evaluation confirmed our opinions about the machine, which led to the subsequent order,” he continues.
